How to make blender 2.80 work on all PCs

SPONSORED: This makes roads in blender City Road Builder

The new blender version 2.80 came with a lot of interesting features that are mind blowing like the new real time rendering engine known as EEVEE.

This doesnt come for free because you have to Buy or upgrade to a faster and stronger PC that has a compatible Graphics Card like the Nvidia Geforce GTX, or maybe any Graphics card that supports OpenGL 3.3 like the Intel HD Graphics Family.

But still without Nvidia, Blender will render like a snail on your PC,

How to Fix Opengl Error

This is for those who want to use blender but have a low end PC or an outdated Graphics Card,

If you run blender, you might get the “Blender requires a Graphics Driver with atleast OpenGL 3.3 to run” errorOr maybe u might get the annoying “Blender Has Stopped Working” error so to fix it, all you need is to download an openGL Library that supports the latest features known as the MESA 3D library which emulates OpenGl features on your PC.

the opengl32.dll I have provided supports openGl 3.3 which is what we need

Steps to follow UPDATED 2020

  • Download the Blender 2.80, 32 bit or 64bit from the blender builder page. for 64bit read the NOTE below
  • Download the MESA 3D OpenGL Library from my google drive
  • Extract Contents and Copy the dll to the blender 2.80 folder, if its 64 bit use goto the win64 folder
  • Run blender
  • If blender fails, close it from the task manger and open again
  • Blender will run but it will be slow because you will be using an emulated Driver Software known as Gallium to render not the hardware. After you have updated your GPU Drivers, delete the dll from the blender folder

NOTE: IF BLENDER FAILS ON WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM, YOU MAY NEED TO SWITCH TO LINUX, DOWNLOAD FREE LINUX UBUNTU DISTRIBUTION AND INSTALL BLENDER

I use Blender 2.80 on a Dual core pentuim 2GHZ with 2GB RAM and an Intel G41 Express Chipset as the Display Driver, funny right?

if download fails because of Ads, this try this Ad free opengl32 Google Drive link

  1. Thank you for posting this! Amazing! I will give it a try on my old laptop now! 😀
I also have a windows 10 laptop that didn´t want to run Blender 2.8. It just closed itself, now with this I hope it works!

    1. yes, it will work for blender, but you need to upgrade your RAM to atleast 2GB and stick to blender 2.7+, because 2.8 wont work but with this trick it will though you will get 2Frames per second which is not good

  3. Thanks for the post. In my case, I have an Intel Graphics 2500 on-board as a primary graphics card to use with Windows, and an Geforce GTX 1050 Ti as a second one, reserved to work for rendering. Blender 2.8 viewport is extremely slow, while the render is fast because it’s using the nvidia card. I hope for the improvement of the viewport perfomance under Intel graphics card. I don’t have this problem in other apps like Maya , 3DS Max and C4D. Actually Maya recognizes both GPU’s and works very fast,

  4. After some tests I went back to my old configuration. I realized that to use the setup I described in the previous post, both gpus must be nvidia. The setup had worked with some softwares and not worked with others. Than, it’s better to use the strongest gpu for all in this case. I don’t have another pci express slot available to add a second nvdia card.

  5. I don’t get it…
I didn’t see any .dll from the zip downloaded from the link u provided. What i got was only a program named “MesaInjector.exe”… And I extracted it to blender, and draged blender onto this program tring to open it and blender still could not be opened.
    Is there anything wrong?
And my system is 64bit, so I googled “MESA 64” as u said but still could not find any clue of it.(kind of wired=-=
I’am new to here, so if there is any mistake i make, plz tell me!
    Thanks!

  6. How to fix the OpenGL 3.3 problem on Ubuntu?

When you install Blender 2.8 from snap or from the repository, it installs without a problem. But when you try to open it, it fails with the message that “A graphics card and driver with support for OpenGL 3.3 or higher is required.”

    I’m using Acer TravelMate 8372 Intel Core i3-380M 2.5GHZ, 4GB RAM.
    OS: ubuntustudio 19.10

  7. Hii…..
Can you please rectify my problem… I’ll explain what happened
I initially installed blender 2.81 on my low end pc in windows which popped up an error with opengl 3.3 requirement..
    But somehow i installed linux(ubuntu 14.04)
And tried running blender which shocked me.
This time blender successfully executed and I was able to render things….
So my question is how is it happening and why other pc with same spec. Can’t run the same…. Please help.
    Pc spec:
    HCL(1044-notebook)
    Hdd-350gb
    Ram-2gb DDR3
    processor-intel pentium (2.2ghz 2nd gen)

And one thing more… When I tried texture bake it gives invert result like bump as hole and hole as bump… That means it’s using di rect x config. Right.

    1. your Pc is very old, its a granny PC, you will have to upgrade to an intel i3 atleast to enjoy whats coming up in the blender releases.
blender was able to run on linux because linux comes with Emulated OpenGL or EGL like the one on this post
